SculptChairs These chairs were salvaged from a downed Maple tree that looked over the Hudson River onto the Catskill Mountains for over 200 years in Red Hook, NY. Although hollowed out, this tree was alive at the time the homeowner had it taken down. Imagine what this tree has witnessed while you sit inside a unique addition to your home or garden. Maple is one of North America's hardest woods and these babies are solid - weighing 200 to 300 lbs. The bark was painstakingly coaxed off, while the interior was carved away to solid structure and sanded smooth. The seats are made from the same tree and connected by dowels and glue. The finish is marine varnish. We have 3 more pieces waiting to be carved and finished. |
